Well, we are starting to see the benefits of the plentiful April showers with our May flowers in full bloom! Our Bolton boys have been blooming around campus too, and many of the guys were captured in photos at a variety of recent school events and sporting venues.
There were a few visual art highlights this week as Mr. Bateman’s AP Art Studies students celebrated the culmination of the year with a tasty cake. Below, Derry displays his best five pieces of art from his 24-piece portfolio and Laurent proudly stands with his piece that was included in the Limelight Art Exhibition.
Walk for Water is an annual event at the Senior School. The purpose is to raise funds and awareness about the lack of available clean drinking water in many rural communities in developing countries. There was a solid showing by the Bolton boys and the event culminated with a Holi-inspired event that was messy and colourful!
Our Grade 10’s were recently visited by the kindergarten class to partake in some math related activities. Several of our Bolton boys stepped up to host, entertain, and supervise the little ones in what was a fantastic connection between the Junior and Senior schools.
The rugby field is a busy spot these days and several of our boys are active on the senior and junior teams. Here are a few pics from a junior game vs Brentwood and some great shots from the annual Alumni Day game that also acted as the “Boot Game”. SMUS alumnus and Canadian rugby legend, Gareth Rees, was honoured to present his bronzed boot to this year’s victors, SMUS, who are also coached by our very own Mr. Daum!
Despite the relatively poor weather, the tennis courts have also been full of activity and a few of our seniors are representing the house well.
It’s election time in BC with a general election scheduled for Tuesday, May 9th. Students have spent a lot of time studying party policy, campaign strategy, and election protocols. Bolton’s own, Will Barry, moderated a candidates debate in the SMUS lecture theatre and it was a huge success.
The grade 12 students recently hosted their annual Grad Fashion Show and Philippe and David showed off some sharp looking 90’s inspired threads.
Today was also another day of Saturday Activities for the juniors. With the grade 9s away on their outdoor education trips, the groupings were a little smaller, but the enjoyment was as excellent as ever! Our boys attended three of this week’s options which saw the driving range play host to a variety of golf swings, Esquimalt Lagoon was the setting for a windy afternoon where the food trucks were a hit, and several students did some baking to help Victoria’s homeless.
