National Soccer Player Coaches Bolton Boys

Keen soccer playing boarders were treated to an instructive and fun clinic on Sunday, September 23rd, when former Honduran national player, Pablo Valencia, visited the SMUS boarding community. He worked intensively for 90 minutes and was assisted by SMUS coach David Redpath, leading the male and female soccer players through many drills. After a short scrimmage Valencia was able to identify areas where he could help each player and so concluded the clinic with such demonstrations. Pablo and his wife Joni Valencia Miller (who is originally from Victoria) both live in Belize, where Joni is Founder and Director of the Ocean Academy Highschool on Caye Caulker Island and Valencia coaches soccer. They very much enjoyed their time spent at SMUS and were impressed by the amount of soccer being played. They were even able to take in the all-girls tournament on their final day in the boarding community on September 29th. Pablo is looking forward to returning to Victoria this summer to run further clinics.
