Founder’s Dinner

A couple of weeks ago SMUS had its annual Founder’s Day Dinner. This evening recognizes our school scholars and celebrates the lives of the three founders of University School, WW Bolton, RV Harvey and JC Barnacle as well as the founder of St Michaels School, KC Symons. As you may recognize, these four names reflect four of the six house names in boarding.

In Bolton House, we use this opportunity to remember our namesake, Rev WW Bolton. The whole house went out for dinner to a great local restaurant. As you can see from the first photo, cell-phones were shunned to the centre of the table and vibrant conversation took their places. After the burgers, pizza and pasta came out, I took a bit of time during the dinner to talk about Rev WW Bolton. This man had an amazing life full of adventure, athletics and scholarship. To see more on the life of Bolton visit the SMUS Wilson Archives or watch this video.

The other important part of the evening was to recognize two outstanding young men who have shown great leadership in the house. Vincent and Jeffery were both named as Boarding Prefects this evening. Congratulations!
