“Super 8s” – Part 1

I have been waiting all year for a chance to use the title because this group of grade 8s is really super. Last week there happened to be two moments when members from the group really stood out. While I am highlighting the grade 8s, I have to stress that there are also a big group of older Bolton boys who participated in these great events and help lead the 8s along.

First was the Mud, Sweat and Tears charity race. To give a feeling of the intensity of this obstacle course read this from the website:

Warning: MST is not for the faint of heart or unprepared. You will get dirty, muddy, scraped up, cold, physically and mentally challenged, and may end up smiling continuously. If you’re not prepared to race hard, race smart and help your fellow competitors, than this may not be the event for you. On the other hand, for those who are up for the challenge the rewards can be contagious.”

This of course only inspired the Bolton Boys! Grade 8s Alex, Bobby, Bora and Pars were joined by Hank and Max in the completion and all completed the grueling event with intensity. Max was even the winner of the Spirit Award! Six of the seven SMUS students to attend were from Bolton. I was so proud!

A huge thanks to Bolton Houseparent Jake and the other SMUS staff for participating with the boys. Read the next post for another cool moment from the grade 8s.
