This week at SMUS was a busy one! There were many things happening this week, including big events like Jazz Night, the Concerto Concert, and of course, Alumni Weekend! On the smaller scale, the Grade 9s had a water balloon catching activity during homeroom for a little bit of fun and team building!
Timmy got to try out a 3D doodle pen and show off his architectural skills!
Phillipe, as part of a business class assignment, sold pizza in the quad, to appreciative boarders.
The second 15 played a stellar game of rugby during the week with great efforts from Ted, Dimitri, John, Sean, Diego, and Artem. Hank did very well in the ISA badminton tournament and David X continued to play hard for the senior tennis team.
On Tuesday night, the gym was redecorated and stages set up for the annual Jazz Night. There were great performances by Phillipe, Christian, Chris, Abdul and Laurent.
Later in the week, a few Sean and Matthew played in the Concerto Concert and accompanied Max’s magnificent solo performance.
And then, at last, Alumni Weekend kicked off! Many of the Bolton boys volunteered on Saturday, helping prepare the cultural dishes, run the marketplace, sell snacks and international foods, help direct traffic, and even perform! John and Dimitri played in the annual Almuni Game against Oak Bay. This time, the first 15 were able to secure a win in a close game in front of a huge crowd.
Also during Alumni Weekend, the grade 12s became official members of the SMUS Alumni Association, attended a special grade 12 chapel service, and received their grad bears, which are stuffed bears with SMUS jackets and pins – to help celebrate their upcoming graduation!
On Sunday, the Grade 8s all had brunch at the head table. We thought it was fitting to see them under the Welcome Alumni banner. Will they all come back in 14 years to celebrate a decade since graduation?
