Hello!
I am Jake McCloskey and this is my third year as a Houseparent in Bolton House! I am an alumnus of the school and, in addition to working in boarding, have worked with the SMUS International Summer Program for Youth (ISPY) that runs in the summer time, the grade 10 Experiential Program, and the Outdoor Education program.
I am currently working on my Master’s degree at UVic in Environmental Studies and am a Teaching Assistant in the department as well. My passion is the outdoors and I love to hike and get outside as much as possible.
(Yes, I get this excited about being in the outdoors)
In addition to Chips, Mr. Danskin and Ms. Hanna’s dog, my dog Chewi will be joining Bolton this year as well.
Though not a teacher myself, I have a real love for education and have found ways to incorporate it into my life through working in summer camps, guiding hiking and rock climbing trips, working with the grade 10 Experiential Program, working as a Teaching Assistant at UVic, and, of course, in Bolton House. I’m really excited for this year and to get to know each of the students better as they have a memorable and successful experience at SMUS!
