Celebration Time!

As we draw towards the winter holidays, the students are getting excited about heading home and spending time with family. In the meantime, we are keeping the holiday spirit alive in Bolton House. The photo below is our own big family, dressed in our festive best. Almost everyone turned out for the Annual Parent’s Auxiliary Gala.

Last weekend was the Basketball Housegames. The Junior Team’s domination on the court balanced out the Senior Boy’s heartfelt efforts and we are still a top contender for the cup this year. The Minute-to-win-in Team also both forth a great effort. As always, I was particularly impressed by sportsmanship of the boys.

During last week there were several interesting events. Fourteen art and design schools came to SMUS to describe their program to the students of Victoria. Below is a photo of Jero perusing his options. Adrian, Luis and Mathias returned victorious from the Soccer Provincials and were honored at Assembly. Philippe coordinated with Harvey House for a fun touch-football game this Sunday, taking advantage of the brisk sunny weather. The boys had a  great time. Also this weekend, the grade 8 and 9 boys participated in a fun gingerbread decorating activity. They were very proud of their creation and devoured it shortly after.

But by far the biggest event last week was the Gala. Boys prepared weeks ahead to arrange their suits, many taking advantage of Black Friday sales. They pulled out the ironing boards and made sure to look their best, some old ironing pros, like Ranon, and many learning how for the first time. David X organised a photo booth for the event and all the boys and girls had a great time posing ridiculously for event. There was great food, dancing and over 800 people having a great time.

And here are some of the boys and their friends hamming it up for the camera.
