The year has officially kicked off! Welcome to our new Bolton families, and welcome back to those who are returning. This is Bolton House’s regular blog about what we have been up to each week. It’s incredible to think it’s only been one week since the boys arrived. We have been keeping very busy and the smiling faces should speak for themselves. Under smokey skies, the week started with some name games for everyone to get to know each other, followed by a giant house soccer game that looked very promising for future House Games events!
School kicked off with classes and a special welcome to our boarding students from many different countries around the world! Our Bolton Boys were also seen building strong bonds together in Brown Hall as they enjoyed the Wednesday night favorite Noodle Bowl as well as playing some spirited games of pool in the house.
We also held our yearly start of the year rule discussion in the lecture theatre. Opting for a different angle to pitch what can occasionally be seen as “tedious” content, houseparents made a Kahoot quiz to deliver the material. Matthias and Ranon ran our first official house meeting and during the meeting Patt was our first recipient of the Order of the Penguin where students are presented with a penguin pin to honour something they did to contribute above and beyond to the house. To receive his pin, Patt did an amazing job with recycling by sorting and cleaning out the bins.
This weekend also saw the boys participate in their first House Games when all boarding students compete in a variety of games to earn points for their respective houses. This was a practice round, but Bolton looked very strong on all fronts!
On Sunday the sun came out again and we were treated with beautiful weather for our annual Bolton-Timmis picnic on the beach. The boys and girls had a blast playing all sorts of lawn and beach games and got to see a new part of Victoria too.
We are off to a great start and there are more busy weeks ahead! Go Bo!
