Well, spring sunshine has officially arrived and there were plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy it over the last week or so. The first came with the annual Alumni Weekend. Saturday’s events included a Bolton House Reunion that saw many faces from days gone by come together to reminisce. Some wonderful stories were shared and it was great to connect Bolton House members across many different years.
Alumni Day is also famous for the ol’ Dunk Tank and Mr. Shaw is never one to miss out on the opportunity to allow students to send him for a dip. Bolton’s Justin Lee also opted for a turn and said the anticipation was a killer. This year’s swamp water was a new twist, but thankfully there were no new cases of duck itch reported!
A few of our grads received their grad teddy bears and knew they were one step closer to graduation!
The 1st XV rugby game was the marquee event again this year and a few Bolton boys were in the squad who were piped onto the field by a full Scottish marching band in full regalia. The boys reflected afterwards that it was a very special experience and gave them a new appreciation for the school’s passion towards rugby. Although the game’s scoreline was not what the boys would’ve hoped for, it was an exciting day for all the many alumni and current students who were on hand to celebrate their SMUS experience. Mo even had his own special cheering section for the game!
